I found [Uruguay] friendly and delightfully clean. It can be as urban or rural a
lifestyle as you find comfortable, with a temperate climate and multi-national population.
It's nice to find a country without hurricanes, earthquakes or tornados but still have clean safe water resources.
My visit included a few days with the David James and Alex Garcia of Sugarloaf. We were
treated to great food and wine plus a taste of Montevideo cultural events. I could write books
about our vacation and Uruguay as a great place to retire, but I think Alex Garcia said it all when
she said "We're not just looking for clients to buy property, but people to be our neighbors." I can
envision my life there with great sunsets, community activity, dinners with all neighbors gathering
for a fabulous barbeque and a sense that life is good.
If you're looking for something not tied to UPS and DOWNS in the USA or Europe, Uruguay should
be a consideration. Stable consistent growth, an educated population and good infrastructure
makes it very attractive.
